REPRESENTATION OF FINITE GROUPS.
Masters thesis, Indian institute of technology Hyderabad.
Abstract
The main aim of this project is to learn a branch of Mathematics that studies abstract algebraic structures by representating their elements as linear transformations of vector spaces. This branch is known as Representation Theory. A representation makes an abstract algebraic object more concrete by describing its elements by matrices and the algebraic operations in terms of matrix addition and matrix multiplication. The most prominent is the representation theory of groups which is discussed in this thesis.
