Abstract

In first part of this project work, a thin film of cobalt is prepared and its different properties including structural and magnetic properties are studied. Micro-magnetic simulations of cobalt films are also studied using OOMMF. In the second and major part of the project work, the domain wall dynamics in permalloy nanowire is studied using OOMMF software. Domain wall motion is analyzed in continuous and discontinuous permalloy nanowires. We observed that the domain wall is able to cross the gap even though the discontinuity (a physical gap) causes a barrier to the domain wall propagation. The domain wall velocity is calculated for different gaps. The behavior of domain wall velocity with current density is studied for different gaps introduced in the permalloy nanowire. The propagation of domain wall along a nanowire with multiple gap is also simulated.
