Abstract
Finite element and experimental study have been carried out to investigate the buckling and post-buckling behavior of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite flat panels. For the experimental study, panels were manufactured using hand lay-up followed by vacuum bagging process. The composite panels were then subjected to uniaxial compression loading on an MTS test system with the specimen simply supported on all the sides using specially designed fixture. Digital image correlation technique (DIC) was used for capturing whole field strain, axial displacement, out-of-plane deflection, and mode shapes. Experimental buckling and post-buckling results are compared with the finite element analysis.
