Abstract

The delamination between stiffener and skin is crucial to the damage propagation while it is compressively loaded. There are some methods which is used to detect size and location of the delamination. In this work an existing method to detect the location and size of the delamination using the displacement field obtained from 2D digital image correlation (DIC) technique. The change in mode shape is stiffened panel due to the presence of delamination is captured by extracting out of the plane displacement of the panel using 3D DIC. The out of plane displacement profile is analyzed with modified generalized fractal dimension method for detecting the delamination location and size.
