Abstract
The electrical energy is one of the easily used and transformable form of energy. With the advancement of technology, the dependency on the electrical energy has been increased greatly. Computers and Communication networks, railway network banking, post office, life support system are few application that just cannot function without electricity. At the same time these applications demand qualitative energy. The fast growing of technology increased power consumption and rise in demand. The use of non-linear loads such as rectifiers, Adjustable Speed Drives, electronic equipment created a distortion in current and voltage waveforms. This effects the change in functioning of equipment such as reduction in life of equipment, mal-operations and increase in power losses. So Power Quality is defined as how close the voltage we get matchs with ideal conditions like constant magnitude and frequency. Now my work is focused on the Power Quality issues in presence of Electric Arc Furnace which is one of most polluting loads. Here we first develop a mathematical model and analyze the current harmonics in presence of Distributed-Static Compensator( DSTATCOM). Then we study the current harmonics in the early processes of the EAF load. We finally estimate the Harmonics using Kalman Filter method.
