Abstract

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an emerging technology that has been successfully demonstrated as a potential diagnostic tool. Non- invasiveness, non- contact imaging and in vivo imaging capabilities, 3-D structural visualization, and cellular resolution are few of the features that make OCT attractive to the researchers and the medical community. This thesis discusses the development of a Spectral domain OCT system for the imaging of biological tissues. Computational image reconstruction was performed on raw OCT data from the system to produce images of the tissues with high quality. OCT imaging was further explored for the imaging of Nano structural alterations in tissues.
