Abstract

This chapter aims to draw knowledge from the existing literature. An effort is made towards summarizing the empirical knowledge from the different studies conducted in the field and to gain theoretical understanding from the books and journals available in the area. The primary focus of the review was on Palliative care, initiatives of palliative care in India, the Kerala model of palliative care, psycho social impacts of cancer on patients and care givers, and finally the quality of life of cancer patients and their care givers. The literature for review were collected from different databases and were sorted based on the title and abstracts.
