Parametric Study of Finite Volume Solver for Dilute Gas-Droplet Flows with Evaporation.
Masters thesis, Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad.
Abstract
An algorithm previously implemented (Mrunalini 2012) for dilute gas-droplet flows with
evaporation in a general purpose CFD solver, IITK-DAE ANUPRAVAHA SOLVER
was throughly tested with different test-cases in this thesis.
In the current study, the evaporation length of droplets introduced into a channel
flow has been studied. The parameters influencing the problem are the gas Reynolds
number Reg, the droplet Reynolds number Red, and the Jacob number Ja. The Reg
in most practical flows is too high for laminar computations so here was fixed at a
dummy value of 100 (it can be argued that the results are quite insensitive to this
value). The parametric study of the relationship of the evaporation length dependence
on the Jacob number Ja and the droplet Reynolds number was then attempted.
