Abstract

High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology has characteristics that make it espe- cially attractive for certain transmission applications. The same includes long-distance bulk power delivery, asynchronous interconnections, long submarine cable crossings and fast power controllability. Then, the HVDC transmission has proved its potential to be an interesting alternative or complement to the AC transmission.
