Abstract

A straightforward and efficient synthesis of isochromenes is displayed by palladium catalyzed domino reaction between substituted ortho-bromobenzyl alcohols and internal alkynes. Interestingly, the strategy is successful under environmentally benign conditions, as water is used as the sole green solvent. The reaction displays good substrate scope due to which it has gained wide recognition among the synthetic chemists. Different analogues of isochromenes are accomplished in moderate to good yields.
