Abstract

IIT Hyderabad // A Contrarian IIT is a photobook that has been designed to celebrate 10 years of the institution in the field of innovation, research and education. The output is intended to be a coffee table book that consolidates the various snapshots and cross-sections of the journey of the institute across locations, departments, people and cultures. The coffee table book looks at being a form of documentation of this journey and its variables, while also establishing an emotional connect with the viewers of the book, in terms of memories and potential dreams of growth. It offers a lens to view the foundation of the journey, of the institute as well as an individual, whilst also giving new wings to soar through the coming future. The coffee table book additionally gives a voice to its numerous contributors, who have shared this journey along various stages, not only through photographs but also prose and poetry, thus facilitating the sharing and cross-breeding of thoughts. This report focuses on documenting the process undertaken in the production of this publication, through its inception, literature review referred and methodology followed, with a brief note on the learnings from the experience as well as the scope that lays in taking this coffee table book ahead.
