Abstract
Switched Reluctance drives are gaining importance as an alternative to Permanent magnet BLDC motors due to their low cost and simple construction. In this paper a new Dual stator-Dual rotor Switched reluctance motor(DS-DR SRM) is proposed which is competent to Permanent magnet Brushless DC motor (PM-BLDC) with high power density. Non-linear magnetic analysis on the machine is carried out using 2-D Finite element model and all the magnetic parameters and load characteristics of the machine are derived. The current-torque characteristics of the proposed topology is compared with conventional external rotor SRM and observed an increment of 30% in peak torque density. The proposed motor is best suitable for high Power density applications where non-permanent magnet machines are gaining importance like electrical vehicles.
