Abstract

An efficient and simple method to prepare 4H-Chromenes using phenols and ketones mediated by Lewis acid ZnCl2, is developed. Notably, the reaction was successful under neat conditions. The method afforded 4H-chromenes in good to excellent yields. In addition, Lewis acid InCl3 induced reaction between ortho-substituted anilines and secondary benzylic alcohols is established, for the synthesis of para-benzylated anilines.
