Abstract

The present work focuses on gaining deeper understanding into the interaction interface of the HIV-1 protein integrase with the human protein LEDGF/p75 by designing point mutations in the interface residues and checking its ability to form stable complex. The interaction interface also qualify as a potential drug target site. The study also includes screening of small molecules for their potential to disrupt the integrase and LEDGF/p75 interaction and thereby inhibit HIV-1 replication. The thesis has been organized into three chapters.
