Abstract
Network/System level simulations are the first steps to evaluate any new medium access mechanism, buffering strategy, wireless channel model or scheduling algorithm and so on. There are a lot of system/network simulators available today which serves the above purpose. The learning curve is steep for all the simulators and it is unavoidable because these tools are meant for professionals. In this work we look at building a simple network simulator from scratch and evaluate some well known scenarios. We call it Wireless Network Simulator as it is intended for last hop wireless access networks. It is an event driven simulator similar to NS3 but not as sophisticated and feature rich. The objective of the simulator is to provide a barebones template to system level simulations. Using this template one can create any wireless network/deploymennt.
