Abstract

Hydrocyclones and D ense M edium C yclones (DMC) are commonly used as a size and density separators in most of the process industries. Its current industrial practice involves as a classifier , separator, thickener in the chemical, mining, mi neral , paper, oil and bio industr ies. With its simple structure, the flow behavior inside the hydrocyclone is quite complex. This complexity is basically due to the multi - scales involved with various size and density particles along with the anisotropic tu rbulence
