Behavior and Design of Concrete Filled Tubular Columns Exposed to Fire.
Masters thesis, Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad.
Abstract
Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns have become increasingly used in recent decades, due to their excellent structural performance, which takes advantage of combined steel and concrete working together. Using the steel and concrete together provides a series of advantages: high load carrying capacity, aesthetic appearance, increases the floor area and efficient
construction technology are widely known benefits. Circular, Square, and rectangular hollow sections are mostly used to form these composite columns. Now-a-days elliptical sections are also introduced into the composite sections. Researchers are also focusing on the double-skin CFT columns to increase fire resistance capacities. In this thesis Square, rectangular and the circular sections are studied.
