Abstract
The development of efficient and sustainable synthetic methods to achieve molecular complexity in one- pot domino processes is an important and challenging task in synthetic organic chemistry. In this aspect, transition-metal catalysis is a powerful tool that permits C-C and C-X (heteroatom) bond forming reactions most efficiently. Transition-metal catalyzed domino one-pot transformations play a major role in organic synthesis for the construction of complex molecules. In general, the synthesis of organic molecules involves step- wise protocols for the construction of individual bonds. These synthetic transformations become more useful when several bonds are formed in one-pot fashion without isolating the reaction intermediates, such reactions are called as domino one-pot reactions. Particularly, the domino processes promoted by transition- metals are of great interest for elaboration and the development of new synthetic methods which eventually represent a new frontier to conquer in organic chemistry. These domino strategies elaborate the scope of the traditional cross- coupling chemistry due to more efficient and fast construction of molecular complexity from commercially or readily available simple molecules. Such transformations are also called as tandem, sequential, cascade, consecutive, zipper or one-pot (one- flask) reactions, link several transformations together in a single synthetic operation.
