Abstract

Today’s cellular networks are governed by fixed spectrum allocation policy. This allocation is done by spectrum auctioning. The different GSM operators own mutually exclusive spectrum which means one operator can’t use other operator’s spectrum. This results into an in-efficient use of spectrum which is proved by several measurement studies conducted in different parts of the world. We addresses the problem of inefficient spectrum utilization in GSM using dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) between mobile network operators.
