Abstract

The emergence of methicillin- and, more recently, vancomycin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus threaten to lead us back to the pre-antibiotic era. There is, therefore, an urgent need to develop novel therapeutic strategies to combat S. aureus infections. The wealth of knowledge available in the form of whole genome sequences of pathogenic bacteria has aided target-driven approaches to identify novel therapeutic targets. Here, we present a computational genomic analysis that elucidates the therapeutic target in drugresistant Staphylococcus aureus.
