Facile synthesis of 2-benzoxepin-3(1H)-ones.

Abstract
A new route for the synthesis of 2-benzoxepin-3(1H)-ones derivatives has been devised starting from Heck reaction, subsequent reduction followed by base mediated cyclization. The initial Heck coupling involve construction of C-C bond, whereas the final cyclization step follows intramolecular condensation.
