Abstract
The demand of biomaterials has been continuously increasing due to ever-increasing aged population in the world. This review emphasis mainly on β Ti-based biomaterials as of these alloys became potential candidates for biomedical applications. These β Ti alloys possess superior biocompatibilities, better mechanical properties, and excellent corrosion and wear resistance than the other metallic biomaterials (stainless steel, CoCr alloys etc.). Furthermore, the paper also focused on the computational studies of Ti-based alloys, aiming to design suitable biomaterials so far. In summary, development of suitable biomaterials can be accelerated manifolds if the experimental studies and computational methods are combined properly. © 2019 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
